To bait the fish that you really have set your heart on, you will need the proper fishing equipment. You will need the bait and the equipment for angling according to the type of fish that you are planning to bait. If you do not have the proper gear it may not be easy to get what you want and even if you do, may not be able to haul it in. The market is now flooded with various kinds of options of fishing tackle, so you can take your pick of what exactly is required for your kind of fishing and go for it. It is essential that you do some research before you go in for any equipment to ensure that you have the correct gear.

1. Tips on a successful fishing trip

One of the most essential tips for fishing is the right kind of bait. Different fish require different kinds of bait and you will have to see what bait is needed for the kind of fish you are planning to catch. There are several kinds of bait which can be bought at the market locally or you could bring it with you. The baits are chicken livers, salmon eggs or what is referred to as stink bait. If you do some research on the sort of biting habits the fish that you intend to catch has, it will help you to get the correct bait and make your fishing expedition even more successful.

2. The hook is also important

Another important aspect of your fishing tackle is the hook that holds the bait. These hooks are available in various sizes. Here again the size of the hook will depend on the size of the fish that you are angling for. You would need larger hooks for fish like bas and smaller ones for bluegill and catfish. So along with the correct bait you would also need the proper sized hook.

The hook has to sink to the bottom of the water so that you can get the fish that are normally feeding at the lower levels of water. To make the hooks and the lines go down you would need weights and sinkers. Sinkers are available in different shapes and sizes and weights. You should pick one according to the kind of rod that you are using and the conditions of the water. It is better to play it safe and carry a variety of sinkers with you so that you have many options on hand with you and one of them will be exactly what you may require.

If you are unsure of what you should buy, the merchandiser will be able to assist you with the correct choice. It is always safer to ask if you do not know what the right bait and other fishing tackle that you have to get is. There is no point in undertaking and expedition without the proper and appropriate gear, you may end up with no catch then.

Fishing began when man first set foot in water, and the tool and methods used evolved from a sharpened stick for catching fish, to fishing equipment in abundance which can be quite overwhelming for today’s fresh angler. We no longer have to use a bamboo pole, but a wide choice of open and closed spool rods and reels that are around today for standard fishing equipment.

Everyone used to head to their local bait and fishing tackle shop near the fishing waters where they sold hooks, lines, sinkers, and worms. Now, you can find superstores for the great outdoors lined with spectacular equipment. You will find a wonderful display or lures, rods and reels to choose from, even the online stores are fully stocked so it can become a bit of a challenge choosing the correct fishing equipment.

Your rod and reel will become a very important part of your equipment for a good fishing experience. A closed spool rod and reel has a spool holding the fishing line which is entirely covered by a metal or plastic cover, to protect the fishing line from all weather conditions. The disadvantage to this type is that it gets tangled and knotted, and trying to unravel it all to get it working properly can be a problem. An open spool is the more popular choice for today’s anglers for the standard as the reel is open faced, so that is smoother when reeling in your catch. Any tangles are more easily fixed with the open fishing line.

Choosing your fishing line is another important decision you will have to make. The technology in the kinds of fishing line within the last decade has improved dramatically in performance. There is a multitude of fishing lines to choose from, so you need to be concerned that it is strong enough and has enough of a weight test to manage the fish that you intend to catch. If you want to get hold of that big mouth bass, your fishing line needs to be able to stand that test, or it will the one that got away.

Bait and lures are important for your fishing equipment to put in your tackle box. You need to learn how certain lures are effective for certain types of fish when angling. You can choose from thousands which fall into two main categories, hard lures and the soft lures. Hard lures are mainly of shimmering spoon lures and replica fish lures, and crappie jigs. In soft lures, most are made of latex scented replica crawfish or worms. You can also buy the classic, crickets or worms. Having a variety of lures in your tackle box will get you ready for all types of angling so be prepared.

Fishing is so diverse and there is no shortage around the world. As a beginner or an advanced angler, there is choice fishing equipment to suit everyone at all levels.

France is a country that has a wonderful variety of fishing from the North through to the South and caters for fly fishing, course and game fishing on a wide range of rivers and lakes. Plus there is plenty of coast line for the sea angler to enjoy as well.

Carp fishing, cat fishing, not forgetting course and pike fishing are just some of the holidays that you can enjoy in France and whilst some places cater for the dedicated angler, others are more family orientated with accommodation and activities for the non fishers.

There are several types of fishing holiday available and for trout fishing, you would need to book from around the middle to end of March up until around the first week of September, which is the only time frame you are allowed to fish for trout in France.

In certain areas of France, salmon fishing is prohibited all year, so it is always best to check on the area you are going, prior to thinking that you will be able to get a licence for fly fishing, just like that.

Every country has numerous different regulations and France is no exception, with specific rules in place for what type of fish you can catch, when you are allowed to catch certain species of fish and what equipment you are allowed to fish with.

For some, this can be a daunting prospect, especially if you are not fluent in French, and although in some areas it will be easier than others to organise your fishing venue and licence, it is often easier to pre-organise your fishing holiday, so do try and get as much information as possible.

You must have a fishing licence to fish in rivers, streams and lakes throughout France unless these are privately owned or booked as a fishing holiday where the fishing licence requirements are normally included, but it is advisable to check this out before you travel!

If you need to obtain your own fishing permit, these can usually be obtained from the local fishing tackle shop or alternatively from the local bar or tobac. But if you are not sure on what is required then you can get advice from the local tourist information board, which can also provide maps of where you can and cannot fish.

If you are only going to be on holiday in France for a short time, then you can get what is known as The Carte de Peche de Vacances, which covers an angler for up to fifteen consecutive days and can be used between 1st June and 30th November. However, outside of these dates an annual fishing licence is mandatory.

An annual permit may be used for the whole year but bear in mind that this will only be for one department unless you get it stamped for different areas that you may go to and this is something that you will need for all fresh water fishing.

When it comes to catfish and carp fishing, you can get a licence to do this in the local rivers or public lakes, but the majority of people will want to opt for a carp fishing holiday on a dedicated lake. And when you go to a dedicated privately owned lake for carp fishing, cat fishing, etc, then you will not normally have to worry about getting your own individual licence as this will already have either been sorted out by the travel agency or the owner under their regulations.

Boats are allowed to be used quite a bit in France, but you may need to have a separate part to your licence to enable you to use a boat, even if it is only for baiting. But be careful if you have an echo sounder in your boat, as you are not allowed to have both this and your tackle in the boat at the same time!

Also, night fishing is prohibited in a lot of places in France, but when on a private fishing lake, or if with the correct licence on certain waters, this can be allowed. If not, then you can only fish half hour after sunrise to half hour before sunset. Some places on the rivers seine, rhone, mosselle, oise, madine and rhine, etc do allow night fishing, but there are many places that do ban the use of a bivvy or tent even if night fishing is allowed and you may only get away with a brolly!

Sea fishing off of the Atlantic coast is excellent and you will be pleased to know that a licence is not needed, and you can go out on a boat to catch bass, conger eels and even tuna or surf cast for sea bream to name but a few.

Fly fishing for salmon and trout is available in lots of public canals and navigable rivers but as with most countries, these will also contain other fish such as Pike, so beware! However some of the best places to try your hand at fly fishing are often owned by groups and in this case you would need to pay the owners for a permit to fish as well as having your licence.

Some of the best salmon fishing in France can be found in the Pyrenees Atlantiques and the river Loire is also a major salmon fishery for France.

Some of the best fishing in France is for course fishing where you will find lots of different species, but with carp, catfish and pike being in abundance, especially in areas such as the Dordogne, Lot and Charente Maritime. But if you like fishing for black bass, the river Rhone is known as a premier bass fishery, as is the river Saone.

The fishing dates and times do vary each year in France, so it is always advisable to check on these before planning your fishing holiday, and at the end of the day, forget about the headaches of the licences, just enjoy the whole experience and you too could be in with a chance of catching a fish that has never been caught before!

Bass fishing is a sport that attracts thousands of sportsmen to area lakes every year. Canada, Mexico and the United States all have various types of bass in their rivers, but most fishermen appreciate the famous Large Mouth Bass. This is one of the most sought after species because of the rewarding experience of catching one.

The Large Mouth Bass is an aggressive species and will bite just about any kind of bait or lure, but there are a few kinds of fishing tackle and methods of rigging that have come to the forefront over the years. The original bass fishing tackle was a hook with a worm that is suspended below the surface by a bobber, or held close to the bottom by clamping a lead weight to the line about a foot or two above the hook.

This setup can be used with any live bait, like minnows or crawdads. Artificial worms have also been found to be very effective, especially when used in shallow creeks or rivers, and setup in a configuration called the Carolina rig. A Carolina rig has a few variations, but essentially, a lead weight that can slide up and down the line is used instead of a lead weight that clamps.

Some anglers prefer to attach a swivel and a spinner between the hook and weight, but many do not. The hook should not run through the entire worm, and the barb should not be exposed, to prevent snagging on rocks and brush, and to avoid picking up grass and moss.

Other fishing tackle that works well on bass, as well as freshwater fishing for other species, include crankbaits. Crankbaits are typically hard plastic and have a bill attached to the front.

The angle of the bill on different models will cause the crankbait to dive slightly below the surface, or as deep as 15-10 feet below the surface if retrieved quickly enough. Crankbaits typically resemble baitfish or crawdads and have many variations in size, and color, and some even rattle to get the attention of nearby fish.

Spoons are another type of fishing lure that is used for bass fishing. A spoon is like a spinner without a jig or grub attached, and it looks like a small bait fish when it is in the water.

One of the most used types of fishing tackle are topwater lures. These are ideal for bass fishing, but they are also great to fish for freshwater fish or many saltwater fish species. You can choose between poppers and spinner baits with your topwater lures. Look out for the bass, though. They like to strike the topwater lures hard, so you need to stay alert when trying to catch them.

There are other types of bass fishing lures and variations, but these are the main types. Because bass are so aggressive, some days they will bite anything, including flies and lures commonly used for other types of fish.

Folks, if you are like me I like a little bit of competition with other fisherman I always want to have the bigger fish when I am around my fishing buddies. If you’ve ever sat around swapping stories to a bunch of anglers, you know what i am talking about. Most of them spin tall tales of monster crappie catches.. and of course, “the one that got away”. We would like We would like to share some crappie catching secrets that i am sure you will be interested in. Wouldn’t you love to show of a giant 2lb slab to all your fishing buddies? Well read on and use these great crappie fishing secrets.

Some of the secrets we have identified go back generations handed from father to son for many many years. Even if you are just an occasional fisherman or a beginner crappie fishing angler you can use these crappie fishing secrets to catch crappie.

First, What’s in your crappie fishing tackle box?

The first part of our crappie fishing secrets article series will focus on what you have in your tackle box and what we recommend you should have. You will need a Spare spinning reel, one that is designed to hold line from 5lb to 8lb test mono-filament line or “spider wire”. The reel should be classified as “medium” and the gear ratio on your reel should be between a 4-4.5:1. The reel should should a consistent drag that pulls out steadily without sticking at any of the drag settings. Having the correct reel is very important if you want to catch crappie consistently.

Make sure you have a light weight crappie fishing rod. There are many crappie fishing rods out on the market that are perfectly good choices, I only recommend one rod and that is the Ultimate by B’n'M it is built to be a casting, flipping or jig rod for walleye, bass or crappie or use it to rig for live bait or jigging. With a strong backbone and superior tip action, these tough rods have Portuguese cork handles and one-footed aluminum oxide spinning guides for superior casting ability. They come in two lengths, 8ft and 10ft More length is better so get the 10ft rod if your thinking of buying. It is very important that you don’t pass this crappie fishing secret up.

You should have at least 25 size 4 aberdeen or mustad gold hooks in your tackle box. These hooks are commonly called “perch hooks”.

I recommend you have at least (5) pre-assembled crappie fishing rigs that have a double hook set in your tackle box. Make sure you check with the state department of natural resources for the state you plan to fish to make sure multiple hook setups are legal before you use this crappie fishing tip. It seems like every state is a bit different. To make a double hook set, slide a second hook over the barb of you crappie jig. This considered a double hook set.

You need to select bobbers that are not to large, that you can feel the slightest bite. They need to big enough to support a crappie rig.Bass proshop sells a boober that is perfect, it is called “Mr crappie rattling pair” and comes in 3/4″, 1″ and 1 1/4″ sizes.

I sincerely hope you enjoyed the first part of our crappie catching secret series, and stay tuned for our next part of the article series.

During the late spring, summer, and fall in the Keys, fishing for dolphin, also known as mahi-mahi, is the best time of fishing in the whole year

That’s dolphin the fish, mahi mahi, not dolphin, the “Flipper”, porpoise. Our dolphin fish are an exciting offshore game fish ranging in size from 6 to 60 pounds.

The best time for Dolphin Fishing is usually April, May and June. It is also commonplace for some exceptional Dolphin catches from early October through mid-December.

If you’re learning to catch fish on your own, here are a few tips to get you started. Dolphin truly are the perfect game fish. They are prolific breeders, rapid growing and short lived which make them an excellent choice as a game fish. They can withstand recreational catches without becoming over fishing.

1. Get out early – these fish are always hungry at daybreak. Most dolphins are caught before noon for this reason.

2. Bait – Sometimes we can cast and cut live bait when the schools of Dolphin are attracted to the boat. Often when we are trolling for Dolphin you will see the fish charge and strike the bait. Use Live Ballyhoo whenever possible.

Chum does not last long in a swift current so plan accordingly. I was finding almost 2 mph of current to the east. Live Pinfish and strips of Bonito were hit the best along with strips of Blue Runner and Ballyhoo plugs.

3. Fishing Tackle – One end of the wire will have a haywire twist to attach to the fishing line via snap swivel and the other end will have 7/0 or 8/0 hook attached using a haywire twist and pin rig.

Proper tackle for catching dolphin depends on the size of the fish you might suppose. Dolphin may be as small as two pounds and as large as eighty pounds; so bring a variety of tackle sizes for the fish you want to catch.

4. – Finding Dolphin – Head out to deep water to search for these fish. Regarding location, the most common reason you might not be catching Dolphin is not going far enough offshore. We recommend at least 3 miles.

Keep a look out for sea birds such as the Frigate, Man-0-War, etc. The Birds will often follow the larger fish which they can spot from the air. You will find most of the Dolphin under birds and, of course, look for debris.

Once a schoolie dolphin is hooked and brought to the boat, leave it in the water. A dolphin can grow to a weight of about 80 pounds but lives only about five years.

Work the weed lines to look for fish, particularly dolphin. In any region, the “hottest” hot spot will likely be a blue water agglomeration of floating debris and drifting Sargasso weed, guaranteed to attract roaming dolphin. These objects floating in the open sea attract smaller baitfish for shelter, and they in turn attract dolphin.

Watch the water for fish next time you head out; be aware of what is going on in the water. Baitfish attract predator fish, and there is no reason for not fishing the area around a big baitfish school.

Dolphin don’t move too far from their food source so keep your eyes open for floating weeds, other floating objects, temperature rips, and sub surface structures which may attract and provide shelter to flying fish and other sources of food.

5. Trolling

Dolphin like to chase after their food. So trolling their dinner behind the boat will be our way of catching & hooking up these fish. If the fish don’t strike your bait while you’re trolling fast, slow down, and let the bait sink a little.

Pitch a naked ballyhoo over a group of birds working over a small slick, and you might hook up with the fish of a lifetime!

When a fish hits, Let go of the line, count to five, snap the bail closed, and start cranking.

When you’ve hooked your fish, work on him so he gets tired. You don’t want to get a 40 lb fish back to the boat until he’s quieted down a bit.

Dolphin grow incredibly fast, so that a 5 pounder you let go in June might become the 30 pounder you’ll be fishing for in September. Catch & Release means just keep a few of these small dolphins (called “schoolies”) and return the rest to the sea.

Conclusion

Swordfish, Marlin, Sailfish, Dolphin, Cobia, Wahoo, Tuna and Kingfish are just a few of the species we catch off the Southeast Florida Coast.

We catch Most of our dolphin while fishing for Tuna. Whether gunning for tuna, marlin or dolphin, Fish ‘em all with Live Bait!!

With up market fishing tackle companies developing new and improved fishing tackles the prices are constantly going up. In order to save money one must look towards tackle bargains. More precisely; internet bargains. By shopping online for your tackle you are set to save money, in contrast to shopping in your local tackle shop. When browsing online I have found many tackle bargains on many of the leading tackle brands such as Pure Fishing, Penn and Fenwick. This is great news as the internet allows us to purchase expensive goods, cheaper than their usual R.R.P.

Websites are trying very hard to attract people to purchase their goods online and not from stores. Recently, online shopping has become more attractive because of the rate at which they are reducing the price of goods in comparisons to the high street. This is why currently it is better to shop online than stores. Shopping online is the way forward as every life is beginning to revolve around the internet. If it is cheaper to buy online then why not buy online?

Many websites, I have found, have special offers on their homepage displaying tackle bargains. One website I have found, on its homepage states you will receive a free abu 20fd match reel with everyone order. Special offers like this is what persuades me to buy online and not stores. I have also found that these special deals are constantly changing which means we can always find new deals available. Theses tackle bargains I feel are very useful as they usually have a very large selection of sale items, that normal add up to the amount of stock tackle stores have. With so much on sale on the online stores are able to have a much bigger variety of products to choose from. With this reason alone you can purchase tackle at a lower price, which on the whole saves you a lot of money.

Tackle bargains are found not only in just sale section on website. Some website promote different stocks for a limited time only, with half price or buy one get one free deals in order for the item to become popular. By having these deals means that you try new products because they are on sale. It is very rare to find these kinds of deals in fishing stores, which is why I feel you are better off purchasing goods online rather than in stores.

Buying bargain tackles can be found more frequently online rather than in stores. This is hugely beneficial, as you can save a lot of money and still have top quality tackle at your disposal.

Leaning how to choose the right fishing rod and reel is the first step in discovering a fun and relaxing new hobby. Fishing tackle is the term used to describe the equipment fishermen use to catch fish. The pole is the simplest piece of fishing tackle and may be made of inexpensive materials like cane and bamboo, or more expensive materials like fiberglass.

When you choose the right fishing rod and reel to use, you need to consider what type of fisherman you want to be and what type of water you will be fishing in. Equipment failure when you are about to land the big one is not fun.

Saltwater Fishing

Fishing tackle for saltwater fishing cannot be made with any aluminum, steel or iron parts because the saltwater will corrode them. They must be stainless steel or nickel. If you are saltwater fishing inshore, use ultra-light equipment. For deep-sea fishing, much larger and heavier tackle is necessary.

Ice Fishing

Ice fishing requires specialized equipment. Rods between onef oot and three feet in length are used. Simple reels hold the line. Some ice fishermen choose to use tip-ups which fit over the hole they have cut in the ice, and when a fish hits a lever releases and a flag tips up and alerts the fisherman.

Other Types

Other type of fishing include still fishing, drift fishing, bait casting and fly fishing to name a few. There are four types of rods and reels to be considered when choosing the right fishing rod and reel for any of these types of fishing.

Spincasting

Spincasting is great for beginners . The rod has a straight handle and small line guides. The reel is attached to the top of the handle and the line comes out of a small hole in the cover on the front of the reel.

Spinning Rods and Reels

Spinning rods have a straight handle also, but the line guides are larger and on the bottom of the rod. The spool is not covered allowing the fishing line to release faster so it casts farther.

Baitcasting

A baitcasting rod can have either a straight handle or a grip like a pistol. The reel and line guides are mounted on top of the rod. line spool turns as you cast and must be controlled properly to avoid snarls. This is probably not the right fishing rod and reel for a beginner.

Flyfishing

Flyfishing tackle is different from all other types. The reel is used only to store the line. Rods are chosen by weight. A rod with a smaller number will cast a shorter distance. How far you want to cast depends on where you are fishing.
